Best ECN Brokers

In the Forex trading world there are two types of brokers and each offers a slightly different access point to the market. Because currency trading is mainly conducted by large banks – known as interbank trading – it’s difficult for retail customers to gain access to the party. However, through ECN brokers and market makers individual traders can buy and sell currencies on this global stage.

In a nutshell market makers are companies that set prices (both the bid price and the asking price) based on their own interests and then make them public. In contrast, an ECN or Electronic Communication Network broker is one that draws its quotes from a range of sources, including banks, market makers and other large traders.

Operating in this way allows ECNs to offer a range of competitive prices and, thus, have lower spreads than market makers. Indeed, unlike market makers, ECNs don’t rely on spreads to make money but instead charge a small amount of commission on each trade. This allows the brokers to make money and still offer traders competitive prices against market makers. Indeed, because of an ECN’s position in the market it’s entirely possible for traders to benefit from conditions where there are no spread charges at all.

Knowing the value of each ECN broker can be tricky, especially since there are so many on offer, but at we’ve tried to make things a little clearer. Through compilation and comparison we’ve brought together more than 200 of the top Forex brokers in the world and filtered them into one database. By evaluating their relative merits we’re able to show exactly which ECN brokers are right for every trader’s particular needs.

Whether someone has a lot of money to invest or they’re just staring out on their FX journeys, it can be difficult to assess each site and ascertain what their best option is. Thankfully’s platform combines expert analysis with client feedback to outline exactly which ECN brokers have the lowest commission charges, whether they offer bonuses or not and how many currency pairs are available to trade.

Indeed, knowing the specific values of a broker is crucial but thanks to our system users can trade with confidence with an ECN broker that’s right for them.
